Resource center

The Resource Centre is a documentation and training entity, dependent on the Education Office, that is entrusted with the following functions:

  • Organize Teacher Professional Developments and workshops.
  • Support Spanish teachers in Australia.
  • Disseminate among local Spanish teachers all types of information related to the teaching of Spanish language and culture.
  • Collaborate with associations of hispanists and teachers of Spanish and foreign languages in Australia.
  • Give educational support to the community of Spanish residents in Australia.

CER Melbourne

The Spanish Resource Centre of Melbourne is a cooperative initiative between the Spanish Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports and RMIT University (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology).

Location

The Melbourne Spanish Resource Centre is located in Building 37 of RMIT University Campus on Swanston Street and has a language laboratory in the Faculty of Global Studies building, where the Department of Languages is also located. In addition to this space, materials and resources are distributed in two libraries: the Swanston Library and the Carlton Library. This Centre has other facilities within the RMIT University where activities such as film screenings, lectures, colloquiums, round tables, exhibitions, etc. are held.

Opening hours

The RMIT University Swanston Library is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm but during the academic year it has extended hours including Saturdays as well. More information about access hours Nueva ventana to RMIT University Swanston Library.

Access to materials in the reading room

The materials and resources of the Melbourne Spanish Resource Centre, as well as those of the Swanston Library can be consulted in the library's reading room. Access is open to the public during the established hours and is free of charge.

Loan of materials

The loan of catalogue funds is free of charge for university students and alumni.

Faculty members undertaking the Melbourne Spanish Resource Centre training courses receive an annual library card that gives them access to the resources of the RMIT University Library.

RMIT University is part of an inter-university lending network so the collection is accessible from all university libraries in the city of Melbourne and Australia.

Finally, if an individual wishes to access the loan service of the Spanish Resource Centre in Melbourne, he/she must pay an annual fee established by the university library.
