Information of the Eurydice Unit of Spain

Information networks are strategic mechanisms to improve knowledge and understanding of educational systems, and are useful in the design of educational policies, decision-making and the monitoring of educational objectives.

Salto de línea In the European Union, Eurydice, the European Information Network on Education, supports European cooperation in education. Created in 1980 by the European Commission, it enables the Member States to exchange descriptive information on the organization and functioning of education systems and national policies, and to carry out comparative studies.

Spain has been an active member of this European Network since 1987, and since then the Spanish Unit has been in the Ministry of Education.

In 2010, the Spanish Information Network on Education (REDIE) was created, based on the European experience of the Spanish Unit and the process of transferring educational competences to the Autonomous Communities, completed in 2000. The Spanish Eurydice Unit is renamed Eurydice Spain-REDIE, and serves as a channel to meet the international, European and national information commitments on the Spanish educational system that are required.
