Abstract

Interest and assessment of Physical Education by parents and pupils in compulsory education

The research presented here is dedicated to studying the interest in the subjects making up the curriculum of Primary Education (up to the equivalent of US sixth grade) and Compulsory Secondary Education (up to 10th grade), focusing on the consideration of Physical Education among students in the second and third cycles of Primary Education (3rd to 6th grade), students of Compulsory Secondary Education, and their parents. The objective is to know in detail what subjects in the curriculum motivate students the most, as well as parental appraisal of the different areas for the education of their children. On the other hand, the article inquires into which of the contents and activities in the field of Physical Education arouse the most interest among students and what parents know about the contents that are taught in this area.

Resumen

La investigación que se presenta está dedicada a estudiar los intereses por las materias que componen el currículum de Educación Primaria y el de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria, centrándose en el área de Educación Física de los alumnos del segundo y tercer ciclo de Educación Primaria, de los alumnos de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria y de los padres. El objetivo es conocer detalladamente qué materias del currículum son las que más motivan al alumnado así como la valoración que conceden los padres/madres a las distintas áreas para la formación de sus hijos/as. Y de otra parte qué contenidos y actividades del área de Educación Física son las que más interés despiertan entre el alumnado y cuáles son los conocimientos que tienen los padres sobre los contenidos que se imparten en esta área.
