Abstract

Schools and lack of meaning

From studies on social constructivism and ethnography it is possible to offer new perspectives in the analysis of schooling, to show the socially built character of childhood through socialisation processes where the institutional framework and subjective meanings interact. The description of different school-rejection attitudes and the search for explanatory hypothesis must be related to the students' specific context. It will be possible, so, to understand the processes of lack of meaning felt by students towards schooling and to suggest some ways of changing them.

Resumen

Desde el constructivismo social y los estudios etnográficos es posible aportar nuevas perspectivas al análisis de la escolaridad que pongan de manifiesto el carácter socialmente construido de la infancia a través de procesos de socialización donde interactúan los marcos institucionales con las significatividades subjetivas. La descripción de las diferentes manifestaciones del rechazo a la escuela y la búsqueda de hipótesis explicativas deben de vincularse a los contextos particulares de los sujetos. De esta forma será posible comprender los procesos de pérdida de sentido que sufren los alumnos con relación a la escolaridad y sugerir algunas vías para su transformación.
